Functioning of the Cell

1. Refer to the updated UGC guidelines for admission of international students periodically.
2. Provide the details of international students admitted to B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses every year and coordinates with the related departments.
3. Sensitize the newly enrolled international students on the existence, functioning and role of the cell and also share with them the mode of contact in case of grievance.
4. Integrate International students into the college premises and activities without any obstacles.
5. Address the grievance of international students with respect to academics, accommodation, admission, evaluation or any other issues during their stay.
6. Provide the students with information about the local customs, language and civic facilities.

• ­Grievance Redressal Committee shall consider redressing of grievances within a reasonable time.
• The ­Grievance Redressal Committee may mediate between complainant and defendant against who the complaint has been made, it required.
• Post receipt of the complaint/application the committee will decide on the merit of case regarding scope of further discussion investigation and act promptly

• To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear information that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.

Functioning of the Anti-Ragging Cell

• Ragging in all its forms is totally prohibited in Mangala college of Allied Health Sciences all its premises including college campus- classrooms, corridors, library, laboratories, canteen washrooms etc. As per Hon. Supreme Court of India, UGC guidelines and Ragging Prohibition Act 1999, the college is having following

Anti Ragging measures

• Formation of Anti-Ragging committee for the students
• Affidavits from the parents and students are taken at the time of admission
• Contact details of Anti-Ragging committee members are displaced on the notice board in each floor of college and hostels (Name, Designation and contact number)
• Anyone found guilty of ragging and/or abetting ragging, whether actively or passively or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging, will be brought to the notice of the committee for the necessary actions
• Awareness class about the adverse effects of ragging and being ragged will be given to each new batch of students who are getting enrolled to our institution.

UGC Regulations on curbing the menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009 Ragging is a criminal offense and UGC has framed regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions in order to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging. In pursuance to the Judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated 08.05.2009 in Civil Appeal No.887/2009, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (g) of sub-section (1) of section 26 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, the UGC notified “Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.

As per the order of Hon. Supreme Court of India and subsequent notification from University Grand Commission, ragging constitutes one or more of any intention by any student or group of students on:

• Any act of indiscipline, teasing or handling with rudeness.
• Any act of hat prevents, disrupts the regular academic activities.
• Any activity which is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, psychological harm or creates fear or apprehension.
• Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure.
• Any act of physical abuse causing assault harm or danger to the health.
• Any act of abuse by spoken words, emails, SMS, or public insult etc.
• Any act of injury or infringement of the fundamental right to the human dignity.
• Any act of wrongful confinement, kidnapping, molesting, or committing unnatural offences, use of criminal forces, trespass or intimidation.
• Any unlawful assembly or conspiracy to ragging.

Any student or group of students found guilty of ragging in the campus or college hostels or even outside the campus shall be liable to one or more of the following punishments

• Debarring from appearing in any sessional test/ university examination or withholding the results.
• Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
• Withdrawing scholarships and other benefits.
• Suspension from the college for a period of one month.
• Cancellation of the admission.
• Debarring from representing the institution in any national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
• Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
• Rustication from the institution for periods varying from 1 to 4 semesters or equivalent period.
• Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.
• Fine up to twenty-five thousand rupees.
• Imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees or with both.
• Collective punishment- When the students committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.

• The overall objective of the maintenance committee is to maintain the interior and exterior of institution campus building, the grounds and all equipment’s through preventive maintenance and repairs.

Functioning of the Maintenance Committee

• Monitor regular maintenance in the institute on daily basis.
• Monitor and plan major and minor repairs of equipment’s.
• When equipment malfunctions or fails, the maintenance cell is responsible for carrying out corrective maintenance. This involves troubleshooting, diagnosing the problem, repairing or replacing faulty components and restoring the equipment to its operational state.
• For the issue related maintenance, a register is maintained in which complaint is entered and the complaint is resolved on daily basis.
