Player auction was held on 13 April 2023 in the presence of the captains, mentors, organizers, and referees through bidding by 6 teams (Drona Catchers, 7 Stars, 7 Stunners, Firebirds, Feisty Fire Crackers and Yukthi). Each team was randomly assigned a mentor to motivate and guide the players through the tournament.

Ms. Yashwitha bagged the highest bid of 25,000 (Feisty Fire Crackers), Ms. Pavana 23,000 (Yukthi) and Ms. Varshitha 22,000 (Drona Catchers).

The tournament was scheduled to take place on 29 April 2023. The event was inaugurated by the Maters’ athlete Mrs. Rita. Dean Prof. Pratijna Suhasini G.R. Dr. Marie Elizabeth Pinto, Dr. Dharmaraja K, Mr. Karthik G Kamath K, team mentors and teaching and non-teaching faculty were present during the inauguration.

The league style tournament was Won by the team Drona Catchers lead by Ms. Harshitha and Firebirds finished as Runners-Up. Ms. Chaithra (Drona Catchers) was declared as Best Player of the tournament.

The event concluded with the presentation ceremony with Prof. Pratijna Suhasini G.R, Dr. Dharmaraja K of Mangala Group of Educational Institutions distributed medals, certificates and trophies to the Winners and Runners-Up.

Mrs. Sonu AS, an Assistant Professor, served as the event’s chairperson, and Ms. Priji P Lecturer was the event’s secretary. Ms. Rahana Ravichandran was the event’s student representative, and there were other event members..
The program started with a welcome note from Ms. Vichetha and Ms. Nidhi, who introduced the dignitaries and guests who were present. This was followed by a prayer song led by Ms. Stravya and her team, creating a serene atmosphere for the rest of the event.

Dean . gave a warm welcome address, expressed her gratitude to the attendees and introduced the purpose of the event. . , a Glaucoma and Phaco-refractive surgeon at Maithri Specialty Clinic in Mangalore, was the event’s chief guest. He gave an informative speech on the importance of eye health, emphasizing the need to take proactive steps to prevent eye problems and promote overall human vision and health. The event was graced by two guests of honor, . ,Associate Professor at Father Muller Medical College and practicing vitreoretinal surgeon at Nethrajyothi Retinal Centre, and Ms. Jijitha Prabha, Internship Incharge at Lenskart Academy.

The event also featured a panel discussion on the latest advancements in optometry and eye care, with experts from the field sharing their insights and experiences. The attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion with the panelists, fostering a collaborative and educational environment.

In Overview, the Mangala International Conference 2023 on World Optometry Day was a successful and informative event that provided valuable insights and knowledge on the latest advancements in optometry and eye care. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with experts in the field and gain a better understanding of the importance of eye health.
