Professional Ethics

Professional ethics of staff refers to the moral principles and values that guide their conduct and behavior as professionals. Here are some of the key ethical principles that faculties are expected to adhere to:

  1. Every faculty member should work within the institutional policies and practices so as to satisfy the vision and mission of the college.
  2. Staff must respect the privacy of the students and other staff members of the institution.
  3. Staff members should treat the students, parents and colleagues with respect and dignity, regardless of their background, beliefs and abilities.
  4. Staff members should treat all the students fairly and impartially without any bias or discrimination of caste, economic, social and physical identity.
  5. Staff must be honest and truthful in all academic matters.
  6. Staff must uphold the principle of integrity and ethical behavior.

Code of Conduct for Principal

The Principal is the academic and administrative head of the institution. She/he is the highest decision-making body of the college and implements policies for the growth of the institute. Besides the following traits are expected from the principal.

  1. The Principal should ensure quality in education and academic activities.
  2. Chalk out a policy and plan to execute the vision and mission.
  3. Safeguard the interest of teaching/non-teaching staff members and the management.
  4. Execute qualitative and quantitative work for the welfare of the institute.
  5. Carry herself/himself with the highest integrity and must exhibit outstanding and strong leadership skills.

Code of Conduct for Teaching Staff

  1. All staff members must be punctual for the classes and should adhere to the timings scheduled for other activities and meetings.
  2. Maintain open and effective communication with the students.
  3. The duties assigned to teachers consists of lectures/ practical/ tutorials in the allocated workload of the individual teacher. In addition, they must undertake responsibilities of conducting evaluation and invigilation, administrative work and participating in institutional support activities as required.
  4. Mentor-mentee system must be followed by every teacher and should take proper care of their group of students by guiding, motivating, counseling, and monitoring them.
  5. All faculty members should prepare a lesson/teaching plan, well in advance before the commencement of the classes.
  6. The teaching staff must maintain the confidentiality of institutional and administrative matters.
  7. Faculties must adjust their classes and show the consent of substitute staff to HOD before going on leave.
  8. No staff member shall engage in any political activity within the college campus.
  9. Refrain from undertaking any other employment and commitment which are likely to interfere with the professional responsibilities.
  10. Staff members should follow the formal dress

Code of Conduct for Administrative Staff

  1. Administrative staff should conduct themselves in a professional manner and show respect to all students, academic employees, colleagues, and support staff regardless of their background, race, gender, or religion.
  2. Adhere strictly to the laws and regulations of the college.
  3. Maintain honesty, integrity, and fairness in all activities.
  4. Staff should respect the confidentiality of student records and any sensitive information they may come across in the course of their work.
  5. Shall not accept outside employment or accept any form of compensation from outside sources that would impair the efficiency and effectiveness of the administrative section.
  6. Staff should use all forms of social media platforms and online activities belonging to or connected with the University in a responsible and appropriate manner and should not bring the college into disrepute through the personal use of social media.
  7. Staff should maintain transparency in the allotment of student scholarships and ensure timely distribution of the scholarships.
  8. Staff should refrain from apprehending any favors from students in preparing their transcripts, NOC, and bonafide certificates and avoid activities that may rise to a perception of favoritism.

Code of Conduct for Supporting Staff

  1. The support staff should acquaint themselves with the college policies and adhere to their best ability.
  2. Staff should be punctual as their prior presence is required daily for the commencement and smooth functioning of the college activities.
  3. The support staff must maintain the confidentiality of the records and sensitive matters.
  4. Staff should perform the assigned duties sincerely and diligently.
  5. Staff should not involve in unethical practices.
  6. No staff should be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the office hours.

Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee

The code of conduct monitoring committee is a body within the institution responsible for ensuring that members of the institution adhere to the code of conduct of the institution.

Objectives

  • To monitor the students’ behavior and take disciplinary action if necessary.
  • To implement the code of conduct for students and faculty members.
  • To organize professional ethics programs for staff and students.
