Functioning of the Faculty Development Committee

  • The Faculty Development Committee is typically led by a designated faculty member who serves as the coordinator. This individual may be appointed by the college administration. The committee may also include representatives from various departments within the college.
  • The Faculty Development Committee identifies the professional development needs through focus groups, individual consultations, or discussions with faculty members. Based on the needs assessment, Faculty Development Committee designs a program plan that outlines the activities and initiatives to be undertaken to address the needs and promote the growth and development. Including workshops, seminars, training sessions, guest lectures, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Faculty Development Committee collaborates with the college administration to secure the necessary resources for implementing the program plan. This may involve allocating funds for organizing events, inviting guest speakers, procuring teaching materials, and providing support for research and publication activities. The committee may also explore external funding opportunities or partnerships with other institutions to enhance the available resources.
  • After each activity, Faculty Development Committee evaluates its effectiveness and gathers feedback from the participants. The evaluation helps the committee assess the impact of the activities, identify areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments to future programs. The feedback received from faculty members also informs the planning process for future activities.
  • Faculty Development Committee facilitates collaboration and networking among faculty members through formal and informal interactions. The committee also encourage faculty members to collaborate on research projects, curriculum development initiatives.
  • Faculty Development Committee maintains records of the activities, attendance, feedback, and outcomes achieved to track the progress and impact of the initiatives. It also serves as a reference for future planning.
  • Faculty Development Committee engages in a continuous improvement process to enhance its functioning and effectiveness. This involves reflecting on the outcomes of the activities, seeking input from faculty members, staying updated with emerging trends and best practices in faculty development, and adapting strategies accordingly.

By following these processes and practices, the Faculty Development Committee ensures a systematic and organized approach to supporting the professional growth and development of faculty members.
